Purpose & Vision

Our vision is, "Joining God to do more than we could ask or imagine, for His glory!" The God Who created the universe is an awesome God. We are humbled by the fact that we have a relationship with Him. We have seen God do incredible things in our midst as we grow to know Him more and as He shows us how to love and serve others in increasing measure. Our vision is centred in prayer and expressed through the following five purposes:

Worship: Joining God to Honour Him Wholeheartedly

Trinity meets Sunday mornings to worship the Lord as a gathered family. We purpose to honour God with everything we have as we come together to celebrate, give thanks, and stand in awe of our incredible God. Younger children to senior adults use their talents and abilities, creating a wonderful mosaic of praise.

As well, Trinity & Southwinds Church celebrate the Lord's Supper together once per month - an opportunity to share stories of God's faithfulness, remember the Lord's Supper, and pray together as a large church family.

Fellowship: Joining God to Encourage Each Other Lovingly

We need each other. Rick Warren writes, "You are called to belong, not just believe. Even in the perfect, sinless environment of Eden, God said, It is not good for man to be alone. We are created for community, fashioned for fellowship, and formed for a family, and none of us can fulfill God's purposes by ourselves." Trinity gathers in larger and smaller groups, formally and informally, for encouragement, support, and fun.

Youth gather every Friday evening for an event that encourages connection and Adults connect through mid-week Journey Groups.

Discipleship: Joining God to Grow in Him Continually

We begin our relationship as we accept God's gift of forgiveness through Jesus (Romans 6:23), and continue to mature in our relationship for the rest of our lives. God takes the initiative in developing this real, practical, and always growing relationship with Him. We commit to support the family as every member discovers Who God is, and how we are to respond and relate with Him.

Children and youth meet for Sunday School each week for the purposes of discipleship, fellowship, and prayer. Adults connect through mid-week Journey Groups where they too grow spiritually, connect with each other, and unite together in prayer.

Outreach & Missions: Joining God to Proclaim His Glory Boldly

We are created in God's image, to bring Him glory. Though we are far from perfect, "We are made right in God's sight when we trust in Jesus Christ to take away our sins. And we all can be saved in this same way, no matter who we are or what we have done" (Romans 3:22, NLT). We purpose to live lives of integrity, whereby our words and deeds focus attention on God Himself.

We are excited to be directly involved in starting new churches in the communities and towns of Southern Alberta. As well, we partner with other churches to support missions and ministry around the world through the International Missions Board, the North American Missions Board (Canada & USA), the Canadian Convention of Southern Baptists, and the Midwest Baptist Association (Alberta, Northwest Territories, and Yukon Territory). As well, this past year we have sent over 40 volunteers to more than 10 locations in Canada, United States, and around the world.

Ministry: Joining God to Touch Others Sacrificially

  • And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him" (Colossians 1:17, NIV).
  • Some ways that Trinity has served others in the past year are:

  • Collecting shoeboxes for Samaritan's Purse's Operation Christmas Child.
  • Stampede Barbecue for the Calgary communities of Willow Park, Maple Ridge, and Acadia.
  • Block Parties in four Calgary communities
  • Summer sports camps in three Calgary communities
  • Volunteer team travelling to Honduras to assist with a local hospital and to care for a local church and community
