The attached document looks at a verse skipped (due to lack of time) during our study of a section of the Apostle Paul’s letter to Timothy concerning women in 1 Timothy 2:9-15. It is an informal collection of my notes – neither an academic paper nor a two-minute devotional – arranged to lead you through my journey of discovery. There are some quotations from published works, including one lengthy quote, taken from some of those read during my regular sermon preparation; source citations are included.

The aim is to better understand 1 Timothy 2:15. Diverse views abound on what the verse says and means. A few different views are presented, highlighting (in my opinion) some strengths and weaknesses. In the end, I attempt to paraphrase the verse while remaining faithful to the text.
